WELL HUNG

Picture this...
This week we had dinner with friends in
town for a celebration. They spent their
time here seeing the sights. Including
trotting through our amazing museums
filled with inspiring things to see and do.
Often we locals don't appreciate all that
we have at our fingertips. However I try
to visit the Metropolitan or Modern on
a regular basis. Our Manhattan pied a
terre is filled with a lovely collection of
art - on loan. Yet I miss my favorites in
Montana. If only I had the cash to build
my ultimate art collection...
COROT
My first selection would be
The Lake
Jean Baptiste Camille Corot
For the moment we first met I've
loved this landscape at the Frick
Collection. It's pastoral beauty
calms my soul. Now if only I
find a way to bring it HOME!
BARANET
I'm blessed to own this lovely
painting by dear "T's" father.
Wind Tunnel
Robert Baranet
Inspired by Corot this work
moves me in ways that I can't
describe. I miss it every day!
TWATCHMAN
Another old friend hangs at the
Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Arques-la-Bataille
John Henry Twatchman
It's so modern however it was
created one hundred and thirty
years ago. Can't I take it home?

STOCKTON
We already own several works
by this sheep rancher and Paris
trained artist from Grass Range,
Montana. But still want MORE!
Bill Stockton
Village in Winter

STEICHEN
At the turn of the last century
this artist took photography to
intoxicating heights.
Heavy Roses
Edward Steichen
This is but one of his works
that I would love to be mine.
Do you take credit cards?!
KLINE
While the above seem peaceful
and passive, I adore the brutal
brush strokes of Franz, not Patsy.
Mahoning
Franz Kline
The ultimate wake up call would
be to arise to this masterpiece
every morning. Rise and shine!

SARGENT
Some things never go out of style.
This massive painting captures
three well bred siblings in all of
their patrician glory. Proof that
three are better than one, the
elegance of Mr. Sargent's brush
strokes are beyond masterful. If
If only  I could paint like that.
Given I can't, nothing would
make me happier than to having
a Sargent of my own at home.
ROTHKO
If one is adding to their
collection then they must
be skillful at abstraction.
Number 14 1960
Mark Rothko
This painting has always
enthralled me. Thus it's a
fitting final choice to top
off my fantasy collection.
One that would require a
massive influx of CASH.
Yet the payoff would be
well worth the investment.
