Grand illusions
Throughout the 19th century travelers
took the "grand tour." Exploring Italy,
Greece, Egypt, and other ancient locales.
Most returned with souvenirs. Replicas
of the ruins they'd just visited. In the late
90's Chessy Rayner decorated Bill Blass'
Sutton Place flat. Creating a neoclassical
enclave. Which featured a collection of
grand tour architectural models...
