7th Day Surprise: REST STOP

As a boy Sundays were a day of rest.
First Sunday School
Then the main event - the service itself.
Next home for a big midday meal.
And then... a NAP!

Back in those days nobody brunched.
Instead  the seventh day repast
was an event of pomp and circumstance.

While at church a chicken,
beef roast, or ham baked in the oven.
Upon our return dinner was ready
and served in the dining room.

Or if we were celebrating something special
we dined at the club or the eatery du jour.

What was most important
was that we joined together as one.
Isn't it time we revived this tried and true tradition?
