7th Day Surprise - 1888

New York - Blizzard 1888

No, this is not a photo of this weekend's blizzard.

Rather, this is New York City during the "Great White Hurricane" of 1888.
From March 11th-14th, 1888 a blizzard blanketed the east coast from Northern Virginia to Maine. 40-50 inch snowfalls were recorded in parts of New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Up to 45 mph winds, produced snowdrifts in excess of 50 feet. People were trapped in their homes for over a week.  And damages were in excess of $1 Billion in 2012 Dollars.

Hmmm... still think it's global warming?
